The Art of the Horse. 9:30 am – 1 pm. Saturday 25th July 2026. Near Bognor Regis, West Sussex. Equus Auri Equine Assisted Learning and Windrose Horses

Workshop: The Art of the Horse

An Equine Facilitated experiential workshop where encounters with horses provoke deep connection to your creativity and artistic expression.

You will be guided through reflective states, connecting with your emotions through quiet presence with the horses and capturing your experience in your own piece of art to take home as a totem of the day.

This workshop is for you if…

…you are an artist looking to reconnect with and express your authenticity through your work.

…you believe you are not creative and would love to unlock your innate talents in a safe space of non-judgement.

…you are curious about your internal experience and how connection with nature and art can support emotional regulation and self-expression.

…you enjoy spending time and finding inspiration through quiet reflection in nature and with animals.

Neither experience with art or horses is required. The workshop is centred around tuning into your emotions, grounding in the presence of the horses and the freedom of capturing your experience in a variety of artistic mediums, rather than the teaching of specific artistic techniques.

We invite participants to engage in the workshop activities to the degree within which they feel comfortable. Please be aware that for some people the deep, reflective nature of this workshop can evoke vulnerabilities so we therefore advise that you have access to family, friends or supportive services before participating.

When you register using the form below, we will arrange a brief phone call with you to fully explain the scope of the workshop, answer any questions you have and make sure the experience is suitable for your needs.

Workshop Terms and Conditions

Participants must be 18 years of age or older and confirmation of your reservation is contingent on the completion of a short intake phone call.

Payment is due in full via bank transfer upon issue of invoice. If payment is not received 2 weeks in advance of the workshop commencing we reserve the right to cancel your reservation.

Because each participant receives an intake phone call in advance of the workshop, your reservation is not directly transferable. However, if you find you are unable to attend and have a friend or family member who would like to take your place, please email info@windrosehorses.co.uk and we will provide instructions on how this can be arranged, subject to your friend or family member completing an intake call.

We will only cancel or postpone workshops under extreme and unavoidable circumstances and will issue a full refund for the cost of the workshop should this be necessary. You will also be first to be informed of a revised date. Workshops are conducted in all weather conditions, except in extreme circumstances where weather significantly impedes participants’ or the facilitators’ travel to the site, presents significant disruption to workshop facilitation or a risk to humans or horses on site. In this instance, a full refund for the cost of the workshop will be given. We unfortunately cannot provide refunds or compensation for any associated travel, accommodation or meal costs.

You will be required to abide by all instructions given by facilitators on site to protect the safety of yourself, your cohort and the horses. Please ensure you do not consume any alcohol or excessive amounts of caffeine before your session, nor take any recreational drugs in the two weeks prior. This is because the horses are sensitive to nervous system arousal or suppression caused by these substances.

Your data is used by Lara Mackendrick of Equus Auri and Claire Nash of Windrose Horses solely for the purpose of organising and delivering the workshop and is not shared with any third parties. You will have the option of completing a feedback form at the end of the workshop. We welcome and appreciate all feedback as it supports our assessment of the efficacy of the experiences we provide along with how we evolve the delivery of future workshops and sessions.
